- Unlike lesser Anti-SPAM plugins, our SpamShiv plugin processes the contents of the entire page, not just posts and page content. We process all of the visible text on your WordPress website.
- Email Obfuscation via WordPress’ built-in antispambot function. This function takes any email address and chooses random letters plus the “@” and the “.” and turns them into character entities. Every time the page is refreshed, the obfuscation pattern changes making it much harder for SPAMBots to harvest your email address, all the while keeping the functionality for your visitors alive.
- Email Obfuscation via JavaScript. Email addresses are encrypted via runtime JavaScript to write the email address at the page load time. The way it’s written on a page makes it increasingly more difficult for SPAMBots to harvest the email address.
- The coup de grâce in our plugin is that we rewrite the MailTo link as a standard web url. We then employ Apache’s Mod_Rewrite functionality to route that page to a special processing page that then completes the MailTo functionality. A SPAMBot will have no idea that there’s even an email there!
- Admin page to configure options how you want them to be.
