(Widget) RSS Icon Widget
We had a client recently who want to be able to put a link to his rss feed in his sidebar. Visit Studio Light Room to check it out. Oddly enough we didn’t find anything readily available to do that without adding code to his theme files. We decided to create a little widget to handle this functionality. It has the following features and is freely available right here is freely available on the WordPress plugin directory:
- Customizable link text
- Customizable link color
- Selection of Standard Feed Icon in six different sizes
- Enter any feed URL
We also have future plans for this plugin. On our TODO list we have the following:
- Custom icon colors
- List any number of RSS links in the widget
If there’s anything you’d like to see us add to this, please let us know. We’re always open to suggestions. If you have any questions, go ahead and click here. We have a screencast queued up to walk you from download to production.
Download the official version at the WordPress plugin directory.
Update: We added in the color picker feature for the link text. You can thank jQuery and Farbtastic for their excellent code and ease of use.

If you’re getting a broken video link, sorry about that. We’re working on fixing the problem. Thanks for your patience.
Great lil plugin that works very well for it’s simple use. I do have one suggestion though. Any chance of adding an Alignment option within the widget’s configurable options? This would allow users to align how they want this widget to display the RSS Icon in their sidebar to coincide & work best for their theme/blog layout. The common simple Left, Right, & Center would be best for selective options.
Hope this is a feasible suggestion to be considered. Thanks for all your work on your plugins too
. Have a good one.
@BeerLuver – That’s a good suggestion. Thanks for the feedback. I think we can slip that in to the upcoming release. We’ve got a major update to this plugin coming…
